ABOUT US!

Established in 1954, the Indian Students Association (ISA) at The University of Texas at Austin is an umbrella organization that aims to connect all South Asian organizations on campus and hold large-scale events for the UT community.

Throughout the year, we plan Jeena, a national South Asian A Cappella Competition, Taal, a dance competition between UT's South Asian dance teams, and Food for Thought, where we serve free Indian food to students during finals week.

More recently, we also held our annual South Asian Olympics with 7 other South Asian organizations. In the future, we hope to expand this event to all students and engage in community service.

Meet Our Board!

Jeena is a national South Asian a cappella competition held at the University of Texas at Austin. In Hindi, “Jeena” translates “to live". Our competition is symbolic of the emotions experienced through the art of a cappella singing, and will showcase a beautiful medley with influences from both English and Indian music by featuring the unique talent of young vocalists from all over the country.

TAAL

Taal is a UT South Asian dance competition hosted by the UT Indian Students Association. Taal is our last and largest event of the year. For the South Asian community at UT, Taal has been the most anticipated talent show on campus bringing thousands of students together. ISA provides a platform for seven diverse South Asian dance teams to showcase their year-long dance pieces one final time to friends and family in their own city.
